The national gas grid is the vital link in the energy chain between entry points and exit points it is one of the largest and longest in Africa and the Middle East, with a length that reaches 7,920 km kilometers, compared to 2,800 kilometers when GASCO was first established in 1997, achieving an evolution rate of 280%. This led to an increase of transportation capacity by more than six times to reach 250 million Standard cubic meters [8.83 BSCF] per day in Q-1 of 2020, compared to 37 million cubic meters [1.31 BSCF] per day in March 1997
The grid covers the Nile Delta and Western Desert area, to the furthest point of the South Valley in Aswan (Upper Egypt) and is extending east to Sinai (Eastern Egypt) and along the coast of the Red Sea.
The expansion of the national gas grid is a prerequisite for the deployment and maximization of the use of natural gas to cope with the ambitious economic and social development plans currently taking place in the country.

DAHSHOUR compressor station was established in October 2011 in order to supply natural gas to the industrial sector and Power Stations in Upper Egypt to contribute in the state’s plan to develop the Upper Egypt region.
DAHSHOUR compressor station comprises of four compressor trains with capacity 979 MMSCFTD, now GASCO is working on a project to install two new trains with capacity of each 326.3 MMSCFD.
To reduce greenhouse gas emission and increase the energy efficiency ، GASCO added five Waste Heat Recovery (W.H.R) units at the outlet of each gas turbine along with Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) System to recover the heat from the exhaust of Gas Turbine and convert it to electrical energy.
NATA is the main SCADA control system, which is used for management and operation of national gas network by GASCO.
GASCO SCADA control system consists of 12 control workstations ONE in each area and a standby control center in SUEZ to monitor and asset NATA in managing and operating the national gas network.
